A business of change, Our mission and cause
In this current day and age, the fashion landscape is filled with many brands competing to provide one of mankind’s basic necessities. However, it now comes at the cost that may influence the way we live in the far future.
Fashion in many ways has now become one of the top three industries that heavily impacts the climate more than others. From the waters used to treat, wash and dye for the billions of clothing items produced yearly to the escalation of energy crop plantations needed to meet the ever increasing demand of clothing causing the risk of losing over 2 million hectares of natural forest and perhaps many more.
A change in the industry currently requires a long process of learning, further continuity of purchased pieces and meaningfulness as well as a shift in how the things we use and see daily is perceived.
On the Path to Regeneration
The core mission of Paca Ropa is about being a medium to educate and communicate how clothing should be produced, and how anyone wearing a piece of clothing bears the responsibility to create a positive impact to the world. Where each piece represents the idea of reducing the carbon footprint, the overused resource of water and a product of the many efforts of people involved to be brought upon the hands of those who purchase it. Though heavy, the very core of our brand is that of being a part of sustainable fashion. A part of fashion that believes in the positive impacts and reduction of negative actions that come at the cost of our planet. Paca Ropa does this through various processes such as fair trade where those who take part in production are paid fairly, through natural dyes that don’t pollute the 2.5% of fresh water in the world, and lastly through alternative materials that are environmentally friendly. When compared to the larger industrial landscape these may seem very small in comparison. However, just like that of a snowflake, any effort towards a more sustainable future means a lot.
